Or for those that always wanted them when they were young... I would like to buy a 4020 wide front but holy cow over $500??? How do parents of toddlers afford these??? Should I call up farm credit? Son turns 3 soon... Either buy one online or there is a Deere 20 narrow front coming up for auction soon near me... Just hold my hand up?

Isn't there any good ones for... say... $100?

Maybe I should just buy him his first gun.. I could buy 2 Ruger 10/22s brand new for one of these pedal tractors...

They are going to become a thing of the past. More and more families no longer farm and the ones in town won't spend the money for them. My boy got a new R series Deere from our salesman for Christmas last year, we thought it was a nice gift. Desk Jockey

Heck no. I own more pedals than real tractors. Look on craigslist, occasionally someone will have a good deal. Ebay is almost impossible to find a deal on. Restored prices for junk tractors. I picked up a wide front 7130 for $100 because it needed a wheel and was missing the wagon. I don't care for wide fronts, but am planning an awesome custom MFWD with duals.

Find an old ERTL one. They will hold value. The plastic ones of today won't be as sought after as the cast aluminum ones.

Keep an eye on Craigslist. There are plenty of hard ridden ones in every price range (but you'll have to move really fast on the cheap ones) and occasionally there will be a like new one that comes up for sale.

My kids love the pedal tractor. It needs new bushings on the pedal crank right now because they wore out the original ones.

My older brother and I rode our John Deere pedal tractors for hours and hours. We had a dirt path around the house that the grass was all wore off. The sidewalk was the hi-way. My brother's kids rode his tractor and now his grand kids ride it when they visit. Mine is sitting in the machine shed and I wish I had some kids of my own to ride it. Here is a link for a 4020 nf that I don't think is too expensive.

We all have our wants and needs. In my opinion this is a "need" for a little boy on a farm to have a pedal tractor. And it can be passed on to generations to come.

My three kids each got a new pedal tractor around age 3 or 4. Green , red and blue. The deal was Dad got them back when they outgrew them. They now reside on a shelf in my toy room. My childhood pedal tractor is on my workbench, in pieces. Someday, I'll get enough ambition to put it back together.
Frytown, I'm guessing you would prefer a Deere but Outback Toys has a Steiger pedal tractor for $145. It looks pretty neat. Marlhauler

The Arcola, IL Jaycees put on pedal tractor pulls using highly modified pedal tractors. They have them sized for little kids up to adults. They're geared down to the point that you have to make a lot of revolutions of the pedals to make it down the track. As a result, the adults can move a good amount of weight. Depending on the surface they're pulling on and who is doing the pulling, they may put carpet on the skid to add more resistance. I've participated in their pulls a few times, and if it takes more then a couple rounds, your legs/ knees are feeling it. jeff gordon

Grandpa and Grandma to the rescue..... Tell the old folks to pony up.
You can't take it with you, and you don't want to leave any behind for your
kids to fight over. :) LOL
