But a few weeks agone, the guys from TFLcar took a BMW M2 down to a local dyno and the results they got were extremely disappointing. Due to several factors, similar loftier-altitude testing, the M2 output under 300 horsepower – even at the wheels. Today we accept some other dyno run showing the M2 putting downwardly a salubrious 335 horsepower at the wheels.

The guys from iND Distribution got their new M2 a couple of days ago and they're already working on tuning it. For starters, they wanted to get a baseline reading of the power the upgraded N55 engine makes and took information technology to the AMS Operation headquarters to run across what their dyno has to say. After repeated runs and various adjusting, they came upwardly with the determination that the new M machine puts downwardly 335 HP and 370 lb-ft (501 Nm) of torque at the wheels.

Adjusted for some 12 percent power loss on the transmission (we don't know for certain if this is a manual or DCT-fitted model) that adds up to well-nigh 375 HP at the creepo which would be slightly over what BMW claims and well withing their known MO. As for the torque, the figures go a bit higher, at 414 lb-ft (561 Nm) at the crank which is considerably more than the 363 lb-ft (465 Nm) advertised by BMW, even with the overboost office taken into consideration.

None of this is surprising though. BMW has been known to underrate their engines by quite a lot, especially since the 'turbo era' restarted. Various dynos claim that the S63 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 of the M5 and M6 are likewise underrated by quite a lot, especially when it comes to torque. We can't await to see what the guys from iND come up up with though.
